Abigail Chavez serves as the Student Assistant for the Office of Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives at the University of Arizona. She is currently a fourth-year undergraduate student, pursuing a triple major in Psychology, Spanish Translation and Interpretation, and Mexican American Studies. Abigail’s academic journey is driven by a commitment to advancing access to higher education for Latine students and supporting her community through counseling and therapy. Her goal is to pursue a Ph.D. in Psychology, aiming to promote better mental health and encourage Latino students embrace their cultural identity.

In addition to her role at the Office of Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives, Abigail works as a College Mentor with TUSD's Department of Mexican American Student Services, where she focuses on supporting Mexican American students in the public education system, connecting their families with resources, and helping students build confidence to pursue higher education. She is also actively involved in Kappa Delta Chi sorority, the first Latina Greek organization at the University of Arizona, where she participates in community service alongside her sorority sisters. Her hobbies include playing guitar, songwriting, listening to corridos, traveling, hiking, and spending quality time with her two Basset Hound dogs. Abigail is dedicated to making a meaningful impact both within and beyond the academic community.
