DESCRIPTION
Join CIELO, UArizona campus partners, and community partners for an experience within the Navajo & White Mountain Apache Nations. This program engages students in interdisciplinary learning centered on the themes of education, immersion, service learning, and civic engagement. Participants will explore and engage with Navajo and White Mountain Apache people, history, and culture through cooking classes, meeting with tribal leadership, college visits, and structured opportunities for reflection on the broader social, economic, and political contexts of the indigenous communities in Arizona.

Program Fee: $100
- CIELO will provide all transportation, meals, and lodging.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
- Tour and engage with students at tribal college(s).
- Cooking workshop and classes on traditional foods.
- Learning about tribal governance and sovereignty.
- Learn the history of the Tribal Nations.
- Tour Canyon de Chelly and other monuments.
- Exploring priorities of the Tribal Nations, including equity & access.
- Learning about traditional agricultural practices.
